The Kenya Orphans Foundation
The Kenya Orphans Foundation (Stichting Weeskinderen Kenia, or SWK in Dutch) lets the Kenyan orphans share the wealth of the Dutch, so that they can have a better future. The Kenya Orphans Foundation consists entirely of volunteers. The foundation was founded on March 21st 1995 by a number of KLM-crew members and others who provided help on an individual basis to an orphanage in Nairobi. Today the foundation provides support to a number of small projects in three orphanages in Nairobi. The foundation organizes and coordinates projects in the Netherlands all aimed at raising funds and it receives donations.
At least 95 % of all donations go to the orphans.
The unique aspect of this foundation is that a number of board members frequently visit Kenya for their job. Projects can be led and controlled locally without paying for traveling costs.
Our projects are aimed at helping three orphanages:
- St. Paul's (Nairobi)
- Blessed Generation (Malindi)
- Blessed Generation (Ruiru)
Donations welcome!
Your donations for the foundation are always welcome. You can donate money for one or more projects currently going on in Kenya. If you are living in the Netherlands, you can make a tax deductible gift.
Volunteers
If you would like to help us in any way, please contact the foundation. We are always looking for KLM-crew who fly to Kenya. We always have goods such as clothes, school materials, medicine, etc. that has been collected for the orphanages. Anything you take with you will help us and the children. You can also volunteer to work at the Spirit of Faith. Unfortunately we are unable to financially support you if you choose to volunteer in Nairobi. If you are interested in volunteer work, please send us an e-mail. The Kenya Orphan Foundation can not inform you about the actual need in the various orphanages.
